Overview: Mobile photography is the phrase used to describe photographic images taken with a mobile device such as a phone, iPod or tablet computer (e.g. iPad). The invention of more sophisticated camera lenses for mobile devices, plus the amazing variety of inexpensive applications (apps) available have created a rich and diverse culture.
I really enjoy using my mobile to capture different events and situations in my spare time. I particularly enjoy capturing sunsets and nature as well as my friends, family and pets.

Travis Jensen
Travis Jensen's is a San Francisco-based photographer, focusing on candid street scenes, street portraits and urban landscapes and his Photos are a bouquet of digital, 35mm film and iPhone, with the idea being that tool types in photography are irrelevant. At the end of the day, I believe, photography is all about your eye, sensibility and style.
Best
I find this a interesting photo because the composition fills the whole space giving you many focus points so you aren't just looking at one point. This photo has captured the movement of the birds like Travis Jenson has frozen the birds in time using a fast shutter speed which makes the photo look pretty.

On the Snapseed app I increased the contrast to make the texture and definition stand out which made the photo look better as you can see the texture of the wood very clearly. I like the final result because the contrast show more detail and it looks a lot better than the original photo.

On the Colour Pop app I turned the photo grey then coloured in the leaves to make they stand out more to the other things within the photo. I struggled at first trying to colour the leave in without colouring everything else in. I like the edited result because it looks nice.
Shoot 1 - Architecture
For this shoot our photography class went to Liverpool and studied the different types of architecture. I tried to record the various buildings and show the different textures, shapes and sizes of the many amazing buildings. I would of like to take more photos but unfortunately I didn't get the time.
Worst
Out of all the photographs, I don't like this one becuase it doesnt show the aim of my shoot as it shows more of the transport and roads that architcture. Another reason I don't like it is becuase it just looks horrible.
Best
I like this photograph the best becuase it captures all the aspects of the architure around me in one photograph as the setting iIused on my camera is the panormaic setting and the photograph shows the rule of third as the big building together are on a hotspot. Although the photograph may appear not good quality the photgraph shows elements like the constant patteren of the slabs on the floor, the colour of the buildings is dull and brown which gives the sense the building are old and the right expsoure.
Shoot 3 - Christmas in Liverpool
As part of our trip to Liverpool we had the task of capturing Christmas, this really excited me as I love Christmas! I love the colours and the atmosphere, I hopefully have portrayed this in my shoot.
Worst
I don't like this photograph becuase it doesnt really show the aspect of Christmas for this shoot and only feature lights and green decorations.
The Bests
|
The inspiration for me taking this photo was the photo by Robert Paul Janson of the black and white spiral stairs and I wanted to try and take my own photo of this around one of the theme of christmas. This photograph is the best because it shows santa from a different angle with the presents and sack which makes it seem like your looking down on santa. A second thing I like is the shape of the stairs in this photograph because it shows a spiral effect from up above and looks really nice. In addiction the photograph shows the compositional rule of The Fibonacci Spiral in the golden ratio.
The Fibonacci Spiral in the golden ratio

I like this photo because it has a close up of the
details/texture of the penguin and it uses the rule of third.
details/texture of the penguin and it uses the rule of third.
I like this photo because it shows the reindeer at a different
angle so it looks like something is looking up at the reindeer.
angle so it looks like something is looking up at the reindeer.
Shoot 4 - Old&New
For this shoot I looked at the new and old buildings within Liverpool to show how it has changed over time with the way the buildings are made.
Worst
This photograph is the worst because it doesn't show old and new Liverpool and doesn't show any techniques like rule or third.
Best
I chose this as the best because it capture the bird on top of the old buliding which has repesented Liverpool for years and still does and it shows nice shapes of the buildings.
Shoot 5 - Splash of colour (Blue)
For this shoot I had the task to take photos of things that shown the colour blue. I like doing this because blue is my favourite colour and was easy to find around Liverpool.
Worst
I don't like this photo because it is boring and doesn't had move blue in it because of the grey railings.
Best
I like this photograph because it fits the aim of this shoot and it shows all different shades of blue from dark it light which fits with the element of colours where the colour blue gives the photograph a cool feeeling. Another thing I like is the blue chocolates because it looks like they are shining.
Shoot 6 - Docks
In Liverpool I chose to capture the man made stuff on the docks like boats and buildings.
Worst
I don't like this photograph becuase it doesn't show any of the docks and the sea looks disgusting as the water is all brown. Also the photograph looks very plain and boring because all you can see is water and very small building in the distance.
Best
I like this photograph because the reflection from the objects around the water makes it look pretty and the photo uses the rule of third.
Shoot 7
Best
I love my dog's tail and the way it has different colours that go into a spiral when she is lay down.
Shoot 8
In this shoot I want to show refinement from my other shoot with the splash of colour but this time I want to show more colours like red, orange, green etc. instead of just blue. I am going to take photos of different colours using lights, coloured pens/pencil, glow sticks and variety of colours.
Worst
Best
Shoot 9
For this shoot I am going to a concert to one of my favourite bands in Liverpool where I want try to and capture the moments, positivity and atmosphere through my phone plus the bright lights. I would like to show the contrast between this one and a different concert I am going to in Manchester next week.
Worst
I don't like this photo because when I tried the get the photo the lights when blurry and ruined the photo but I do like that the colour is bright.
Best
I like the bright colours and I think it looks cool with all the smoke effects and lights. this photo shows the band having a good time which gives off a good vibe/atmosphere around the arena plus it is a good camera angle.
Shoot 10
For this shoot I am going to go to a concert in Manchester where I am going capture the atmosphere and the lights and effects. I will use the panoramic setting to get the photo lights and stage in one photo to show the interaction between the fans and artist and I will use the rule of thirds as well as capturing the moments.
Worst
I don't like this photo I have taken because it is a blur and doesn't show any techniques in mobile photography, plus
Best
I really like this photo as it shows the whole atmosphere of the concert and illustrates what is going on. For this photo I used the panoramic settings on my camera where I started the photo at the back of the arena the made my way to the front where the stage was. This shows fans as coming together as one and enjoying the moment which give off a positive atmosphere through out the song. I like the way the photo looks like the sky at night with the ball hanging down represents the moon and the phone lights represent the stars in the dark sky.
I like this photo because it reminds me of a beautiful night sky and I like the way the blue lights reflects off the moon ball which give the photo a nice colour. Also I like the detail the phone has capture of the moon which I think it shows my photos from this concert are more detailed than the previous one but it feature less bright colours.
Edited photographs
I have chosen to edited these photos to make they look better and stand out more. I think editing these photos have improved them because some look similar to photographers work and it shows more stuff in detail.
Evaluation
Overall I think mobile photography is good because it allows you caputure different aspects of places like christmas or architecture without a camera and end results are still good.
